Our mission
Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities.
Here are our Wild Ones Habitat Gardening in Central New York chapter bylaws.
What HGCNY does
From September through April, we have monthly programs, which are free and open to the public. We also have an annual field trip in the spring and Show Me, Help Me tours in the summer.
Our plant sales help get native plants planted out there in CNY and, equally important, support local native plant nurseries, helping make native plants easier to obtain and the common sense default choice for home landscapes.
YOU can become a Wild One!
To support our Wild Ones mission, we encourage you to become an official member of Wild Ones. And when you’re a member of Wild Ones, you’re automatically a member of HGCNY! Wild Ones members receive the Wild Ones Journal.
HGCNY Board of Directors
Wild Ones HGCNY members vote on a slate of three people for the Board of Directors, who then elect the three Principal Officers (President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and appoint other officers (Membership and others). And as the bylaws allow, the terms will be for four years. The next election will be in November 2028 when the current Board of Directors terms expire.
ONLY official dues-paying Wild Ones members can vote in the elections. In other words, receiving our newsletter and/or attending meetings does not constitute membership. If you aren’t yet a member or haven’t renewed your membership, join the Wild Ones HGCNY chapter or renew your membership by clicking on the button below. Your membership supports the Wild Ones mission of preserving biodiversity with native plants and natural landscaping. Thank you!
Wild Ones receives an award!
